What was the highlight of The Westin Cozumel
Special sea view and very good breakfast, but no extraordinary highlight
The bed was very comfortable and our room was large. We really liked the fact that we were on the 14th floor and had a super nice sea view. The breakfast was also exceptional, definitely much better than in other Mexican restaurants and hotels. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We also liked the fact that snorkeling equipment and kayaks were available for free. The hotel's own reef is very beautiful.
Although we enjoyed our stay very much and the sea view was breathtaking, the hotel unfortunately cannot be compared with other Westin Hotels. Of course, the standard in other countries is always different, but our favorite of the rooms is simply the Westin in Hamburg.

What was the highlight of The Westin Cozumel
Location, Amazing Views, Great Staff!
Close to town but not "in-town". Very quick short taxi rides back and forth ($150 MXN). The view from the ocean view rooms (Standard) was fantastic. Rooms were nice and large with plenty of storage. Very comfortable and clean. The staff was wonderful, simply wonderful.
The property is roughly 6 years old and is showing abuse and age. Not the staffs fault, the current owner (franchisee) is just not keeping up with maintenance. Supposedly this is changing with a new manager on board. I hope so and they have an amazing property and it would be a shame to see is continue to go down hill. But currently (December 2023) its a bit beat up. Some people notice little things... if you do, like me, then you may be disappointed. If you don't, like my wife, then you won't care. If they fixed all the broken stuff and addresses wear and tear then the only major complaint I have is the food situation. It's not great. There are three options on property; AM: Breakfast/Buffet which is definitely their strongest offering and totally acceptable. Lunch is only a pool snack bar which the menu is VERY limited. They need help here. Dinner you have two choices but again given a choice I'd never 'choose' to eat at either of these restaurants... Most of its menu issues... other is just restaurant design. We did breakfast onsite and ate in town every night after the first night trying both unite restaurants. Oh, this was a significant turn off - they allow street vendors on the property. I have never seen this before is a "nicer" hotel. So be prepared to be pan handled to on your way the the restaurant, the pool, walking in or out of the lobby.

We had a great time, and I would recommend the hotel in general
The staff was very friendly, and the food at the breakfast/lunch restaurant was good. The room was spacious with a balcony- great view! The hotel was very clean.
The access to the ocean is limited due to the rocks at the edge. That made it hard for a lot of folks to swim at the same time. When we arrived only one elevator was working and the roof deck was closed. A few days in it was all open. There was a funky smell in the main lobby level- I think it is some kind of scent they are using, but we did not care for it.

Relaxing except for the spa (ironic, huh?)
Nice view from the room balcony...Beautiful view from restaurant...Good food.
Horrible experience at the spa...worst service ever. The manager wouldn't even face me and the situation wasn't resolved. Such a shame.
